Dear Shonto Preparatory Technology High School Community, Parents, and Students,

I hope this letter finds you well and that you are as excited as I am for the this school year. As your principal and acting superintendent, it is my pleasure to welcome you to a new year filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and success. Our mission at Shonto Preparatory School is at the heart of everything we do, and I am committed to ensuring that we live out this mission every day.

Our mission is to nurture positive character in a safe, engaging, caring, and creative environment with high academic expectations, while instilling Dine' language and culture, where all learners are successful, responsible, and independent thinkers.

Nurturing Positive Character, Safe and Engaging Environment: At Shonto Preparatory, we believe that education goes beyond academics. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where students develop strong character, learn the values of respect, integrity, and compassion, and grow into responsible individuals who contribute positively to their community. We strive to create a secure and supportive environment where students feel valued and encouraged to take risks in their learning journey. As we review the data, review our curriculum, and instruction we strive to keep students motivated and excited about their learning.

High Academic Expectations: We hold high academic expectations for all our students. Our rigorous curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire, ensuring that students reach their full potential. We are committed to providing the resources and support needed for every student to excel academically.

Instilling Diné Language and Culture: At Shonto Preparatory, we are proud to celebrate and preserve Diné language and culture. We have courses that are dedicated to the Navajo language, cultural teachings, allowing students to connect with their heritage and history. We believe that understanding and appreciating one’s culture is fundamental to personal and academic growth.

Successful, Responsible, and Independent Thinkers: Our goal is to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become successful, responsible, and independent thinkers. We foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, preparing students to navigate the complexities of the world with confidence and competence. These skills are instrumental despite the field, vocation, or goal beyond high school.

As we embark on this new school year, I invite you to join us in our mission. Together, we can create an enriching educational experience that empowers our students to achieve greatness. I look forward to working with you and witnessing the incredible achievements of our learners.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to Shonto Preparatory Schools.

Sincerely,
